The Simpson's Fate Has Been Decided...
...and it's good news if you're a fan of the show!
Fox has announced that The Simpsons has been renewed for seasons 24 AND 25. This comes after intense, and very public, negotiations between the cast who have taken a reported 40% pay cut to keep the show on the air.
Fox continues to deny any actor a portion of the back end profits of the show, which are allegedly pretty hefty. This also comes fresh off the new that the show was all but canceled after the internet exploded with the rumor that the show was worth over 750 million dollars if it was sacked.
Fans of the show can be glad they're getting at least 2 more seasons as it stands right now. No idea if 25 will be the last season or not (I suspect not).
New episodes return October 30 with the newest Tree House of Horror episode.

Canceled! New Shows Booted Plus Some Pickups!
Word is coming in that NBC has pulled the plug on The Playboy Club and Free Agents (boo), just a week after saying they won't be canceling any new shows just yet. What a difference a week makes I guess.
Additionally, CBS has canceled How To Be A Gentleman. It's okay, I didn't know what it was either but I have heard that it was awful.
Fans of shows New Girl, Up All Night, 2 Broke Girls and Whitney can relax as all four of them have received full season orders.
I don't believe any new dramas have been given full season orders just yet.
Besides, The Walking Dead starts up in a couple weeks so nothing else matters anyway.

Blu-Ray review: The Magnificent Seven and Return Of The Magnificent Seven
Two western classics are available now on blu-ray: the well...magnificent...Magnificent Seven and its sequel Return of the Magnificent Seven.
MGM released the films earlier this year in a collection that featured the entire series of films but these two are now available separately.
The first, The Magnificent Seven, is presented in a 50th anniversary edition with a decent amount of features including making of featurettes, trailers, lost images, audio commentary that features James Coburn, Eli Wallach and Walter Mirisch; and more!
The first film is a brilliant western version of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. Wonderfully directed and acted and a pretty much flawless western. Unfortunately, the sequel doesn't live up to the original. It feels a little more like a cash grab than anything else. MGM must not have much faith in it either because they have supported it with zero special features. It's not terrible but compared to the original it just doesn't hold up.
Still, completists will probably want to pick up both titles and right now they're pretty cheap at around $12.99.
The Magnificent Seven and Return of the Magnificent Seven are available now.

Steve Jobs Is Gone
According to the Associated Press, Apple has announced that Steve Jobs has passed away.
Jobs had been battling a rare form of pancreatic cancer for many years and just recently stepped down as CEO of Apple. He was 56 years old.
He was a visionary and a pioneer to say the least. It would be fair to say that he changed the way we interact with everything from computers to music to books to movies. A true genius. He will be missed.
I implore you to go over to Apple.com. Our thoughts go out to his family and his friends.
Below are some statements from Apple, Tim Cook and Bill Gates.
Tim Cook:
"I have some very sad news to share with all of you. Steve passed away earlier today.
Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.
We are planning a celebration of Steve’s extraordinary life for Apple employees that will take place soon. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories and condolences in the interim, you can simply email rememberingsteve@apple.com.
No words can adequately express our sadness at Steve’s death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. We will honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much."Bill Gates:
“I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work. Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives. The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.”Apple:
"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."
