UPDATE (6/12/2015): News sites GeekTyrant and Heroic Hollywood are reporting that Ass Butterfield is no longer in the running to play Spiderman. Tough luck, kid. But I’m glad I reported this as a rumor, while other sites reported it AS FACT. That’s what you find here at PCB: journalistic integrity…and indecision.
(ORIGINAL 5/15/2015) Latino Review broke the story today that Ass Butterfield is going to be playing the Sony/Marvel Spidey hybrid that everyone has been clamoring for since we heard about the news that Sony loaned out Spiderman a few months ago. Here’s the LR breakdown:
Asa Butterfield is Spider-Man. We’ve been sitting on this information since Friday but can confirm now, that his reps and Marvel are under negotiations. Its all about formalities now and then an official announcement from Marvel will follow shortly.
Our sources on the ground don’t yet have details of the scope of the new Peter Parker role, but Marvel has said earlier in the year that the character would debut in next springs Captain America: Civil War, which is currently in production.
Now, I made a note in the title that I consider this rumor because of the keyword NEGOTIATIONS. We’ve seen negotiations fall through before with directors, actors and even video game creators (Kojima and PT, anybody?). But rumors are fun, and it makes it more exciting to see what actually pans out! What do you think about the (possibly) new Spiderman? Will he live up to the mantle of Andrew Garfield? Let us know in the comments!!
