To celebrate their 40th anniversary Toto has just released the LIVE album “40 Tours Around The Sun” on multiple formats.

It’s hard to believe that the song “Hold The Line” crashed into the charts all over the world in 1978! 40 years into their career and with 14 studio albums under their belt Toto are still killing it on stage over the world! The new LIVE album “40 Tours Around The Sun” captures the band at the height of their on stage power in front of a sold-out crowd at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. That night the 18,000+ crowd was treated to an amazing set list of hits (Hold The Line, Rosanna, Africa), new songs (Alone, Spanish Sea) and rarely played deep cuts (English Eyes, Lion, Girl Goodbye, Jake To The Bone, Dune). The band also treated the audience to songs they have written and played on by other artists. Those songs include “Miss Sun” which was written by David Paich and a hit for Box Scaggs. The band also dips into The Beatles catalogue for an amazing version of the George Harrison classic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” with Luke nailing the original Eric Clapton guitar solo.

Holding down the proceedings on stage are original members Steve Lukather, David Paich and Steve Porcaro. Big props also go to long time lead vocalist Joseph Williams who has helped his Toto brothers bring these great songs to the masses for years. Williams is a force of nature and sounds stellar on the new tracks as well as the classics which he nails perfectly. The rest of the touring band features Shannon Forrest (drums), Lenny Castro (percussion), Shem Von Schroeck (bass, vocals) and Warren Ham (sax, harmonica, vocals).

Diehard fans will love this 26 song collection and people who aren’t familiar with the band’s playing and singing prowess will be in awe as to how Toto continues to rock after all these years!flag high for years and this 26 set proves that they are still a force to be reckoned with! If you buy only one LIVE album this year it has to be Toto’s “40 Tours Around The Sun” it really is the next best thing to being at an actual Toto show.
