Last night Adam Ant brought his unique brand of new wave pirate pop rock to the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Backed by a 4 piece band that included 2 drummers, Ant stormed through an impressive 26 song set list in just under 2 hours.
Ant is currently on tour to promote the recently released deluxe edition of the Adam and the Ants album “Kings Of the Wild Frontier.” The night began with the band playing that entire album top to bottom with the sold out crowd on their feet singing and dancing throughout.
As for Adam Ant… he was perfect and the crowd was digging his every move. Compared to his last Los Angeles performance at the Mayan Theatre in 2012 this was a completely different person. He in shape, clear eyed, fresh faced and looked almost exactly like he did in his MTV heyday.
The all female glam rock band known as Glam Skanks opened the show and were the right band for the job. The young rockers ripped through a 45 minute set that paved the way for what was to come. All in all the show had everything you could want from a rock’n’roll concert and was the perfect blend of new glam and retro new wave punk!
