British Heavy Metal icons Saxon touch down in Southern California for the first of two shows in Anaheim, CA and they did not disappoint!

While other veteran bands are slowing down Saxon played like they were just getting started. Singer and leader Biff Byford held the audience in the palm of his hand for the entire show. He stalks the stage like a mad king looking for the next villager he wishes to execute. As for his vocal prowess Biff hasn’t lost a step since the band’s heyday in fact he sang as if 2018 is Saxon’s heyday. His voice was pitch perfect with every high note in place and a wonder to behold. Kudos to the rest of the band as well especially drummer Nigel Glockler who is one of the best metal drummers I have ever seen. In most  bands the drummer is the first to go but Glockler played like a man half his age!

The band kicked off their 21 song set with the title track from their blistering new album “Thunderbolt” and the crowd was immediately on their feet from the first note to the last. Other tracks featured from “Thunderbolt” included “The Secret Of Flight,” “Nosferatu (The Vampires Waltz),” “They Played Rock and Roll,” “Sons Of Odin” and “Sniper.” The diehard fans ate up the new material and it fit in seamlessly with the band’s catalogue.

Fans pumped their fists and banged their heads to the classics too such as “Wheels Of Steel,” “Power and the Glory,” “Princess of the Night” and the closer of all closers “Denim and Leather.”

Let’s pray to the Gods that we have not seen the last of Saxon in Los Angeles because the world needs their powerful brand of Heavy Metal Rock’n’roll now more then ever!
