80’s hit makers The Motels are back in the CD racks thanks to the premiere retro label Culture Factory USA.
The band’s 1st 5 studio LPs are now available with remastered sound and housed in Mini Vinyl LP replica sleeves.
From their 1979 self-titled debut through 1985’s “Shock” the music of The Motels has never sounded better. The packaging on these re-releases is impeccable as well. Each album features all of the original album elements including lyrics and exact reproductions of all artwork.
The real find of the bunch is their sophomore effort “Careful.” “Careful” is loaded with amazing songs that most music fans have never heard because at the time of release The Motels were not a household name. That would happen a couple years later with the birth of MTV.
Standout tracks on “Careful” include “Danger,” “Days Are O.K. (But The Nights Were Made For Love)” and “Whose Problem?”
The hits start coming with the discs: “All Four One” and “Little Robbers.” The sound quality on tracks such as “Take The L,” “Only The Lonely,” “So L.A.,” ” Suddenly Last Summer” and “Remember The Nights” is spectacular. The band’s 1985 album “Shock” suffers a little from Richie Zito’s bombastic 80’s production style but still spawned the top 40 hit “Shame.”
All in all these 4 discs are a great representation of this often underrated band. Other titles available include the band’s debut “Motels” and Martha Davis’ solo debut “Policy.” As always these titles are limited edition so pick up your copies now via Culture Factory USA.
