Riley Stearns follows up his wonderful “The Art of Self-Defense” with the equally quirky and wild ride that is Dual. Starring a wonderful Karen Gillan as a woman who gets a duplicate of herself when she learns she has a terminal illness, only to go into remission and have to dual her double to the death, as law dictates only one can remain alive at a time. The film also stars Aaron Paul as her trainer helping to prepare her for her dual to the death.

The performances in this movie are so unique and interesting to me. The way Karen talks, and even Aaron’s performance, it’s hard to even describe. You’ll notice it right away.

The film is a real treat and an interesting look at how impending death and the option of a version of you taking your place can affect what’s left of your life, and what can happen when what should be a good thing, turns out poorly.

If you enjoyed “The Art of Self-Defense” you’re likely to enjoy this one and it’s now available on blu-ray. It’s also on AMC+ if you would rather stream it. By now you all know my thoughts on physical media so I won’t bore you with that. But definitely give “Dual” a look however you can.
