Heart touched down in Hollywood, CA on Monday September 9 to kick it out on their “Love Alive” tour with the second of two shows at the world famous Hollywood Bowl.
After a 3 year hiatus from the road to concentrate on solo endeavors, Ann with “The Ann Wilson Thing” and Nancy with “Roadcase Royale,” the hard rocking Wilson sisters known collectively as Heart were back together giving the fans a show full of hits and covers. The show opened with the deep album track “Rockin’ Heaven Down” from the band’s 1980 LP Bebe Le Strange followed by fan favorites “Magic Man” and “Love Alive.” Next up was a string of classic cover tunes that included some great out of the box choices including “Your Move” by Yes, “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye and Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Boxer.”
Guitarist Nancy Wilson then took center stage to play and sing her #1 80’s hit “These Dreams” which has been a highlight of any Heart show for the past 33 years! From this point on the show was a nonstop barrage of Heart’s classic catalogue. The show ended with a three song encore that covered Led Zeppelin’s FM staple “Stairway To Heaven” followed by the #1 hit “Alone” and a song that always gets everyone on the feet… “Barracuda.”
Honorable mention to the guys in the backing band as they were amazing throughout the evening but as always when it comes to Heart all eyes and ears are on the Wilson sisters who proved they have only gotten better with time.
