Hailimi Bristol, heir to the Indranan throne has been dodging a lot of assassination attempts lately. The more she’s sure she’s closing in on her family’s murderer, the more dangerous her life becomes.
She’s resigned herself to serving her empire, but she’s got to survive her coronation and stave off an encroaching Saxon empire so her beloved Indrana doesn’t end up in a war they probably wouldn’t survive.
The sarcastic, cheeky, and dangerous pirate/gunrunner/princess Hail Bristol is back in the next installment of the Indranan War series. The intrigue is amped up as Hail chases after her family’s killers, and the man who killed her father. We learn a bit more about how she became a gunrunner, and some of her past with her late lover, killed by a mutinous crew member.
Hail needs help from a few people in her past, and we get introduced to more really cool characters.
Hail is quickly becoming a favorite character, and I really hope we won’t have to wait too terribly long for book 3. There’s a lot of interesting multilayered space opera and court intrigue going on in these books, and for fans of shows like Firefly and Killjoys there’s a lot to love here. Book one came out earlier this year, so it has me hopeful book three isn’t too far away.
